The room was clean and updated, but best of all, the hotel has Salvatore Ferragamo products in the bathroom. (The others have the bedroom at the back of the suite.) These are a little smaller than the other suites, but we did not mind because it was worth being able to lie in bed and see the ocean. There are only three rooms in the hotel (one on each floor) that have the bedroom and living area facing the water. The "ocean view" may have the pool, other rooms, restaurant, etc. The "ocean front" are the only rooms that are guaranteed to be on the water. I was little confused about the "ocean view" and "ocean front," so I spoke with someone at the hotel.
I would highly recommend an Oceanfront Suite.
Our room was not ready when we arrived around 1:00, but we had lunch at the hotel cafe and walked through the neighborhood. Check-in and check-out was a bit chaotic because, for whatever reason, there always seemed to be a lot of people milling about in the lobby. However, at night, we would walk (or cab) to Duval Street and enjoy the real action. (They also look overrun with families and kids.) We spent the days relaxing at the hotel beach and felt as if we were at a tropical resort. There are a few hotels on the water, but none have the amount of beach that the Casa Marina does. There are a lot of nice, charming guesthouses in the city, but most do not have water views. We wanted a beach vacation and a room with an ocean view, but also the restaurants and nightlife of the town. I spend a lot of time researching hotels before I visit a city, especially a city to which I have not previously been.
